Otorhinolaryngology is the medical discipline which involves the assessment, analysis, treatment, and management of diseases, abnormalities, and other health issues related to ears, nose, and throat, as well as the head and neck.  Doctors who specialize in this area are referred as Otorhinolaryngologists, Otorhinologists, Otolaryngologists, ENT (ear, nose, and throat) surgeons, or head and neck surgeons. Patients generally seek treatment from an Otorhinolaryngologic for disorders/diseases of the ear, nose, and throat, base of the skull, head, and neck which usually include functional diseases that affect the primary senses and activities like eating, drinking, speaking, breathing, swallowing, and hearing. Additionally, ENT surgery deals with the surgical management and reconstruction of cancers and benign tumors of the head and neck as well as Cosmetic surgery of the face and neck (facial plastic surgery).
